Psychosocial Problems Experienced by Infertile Women and Stigmatization: A Qualitative Study

Purpose: This study aims to determine the psychosocial problems experienced by infertile women and their stigmatization statuses. 
 Methods: qualitative was conducted in Assisted Reproductive Treatment Center of a university hospital Turkey between November 2016-May 2017. Sample consisted 42 who agreed participate study. Data were collected through semi-structured “Interview Form” consisting eight open-ended questions relation infertility. Collected data analyzed with method content analysis. Results: From in-depth interviews women, four main themes emerged include ten sub-themes revealing they statuses as sorrow, feeling guilt, childlessness stigmatization, loss motherhood, stress (psychologically), perceived social pressure, isolation (socially), lack sexual drive, failure (sexual life) financial (economically). Conclusion: In study, it determined that receiving infertility treatment many due childlessness, limited lives especially avoid directed them about having child talking pregnant women/families children. Based on these results, is recommended for nurses work at assisted reproductive centers have opportunity communicate longer throughout process provide support counselling need.
